“A mix of convenience and chaos—and playing where the bartender”
21 Jan 2025
The Pendulum Hotel: Basic, Functional, and a Bit of an Adventure Stayed here recently, and I’ve got to say—it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for somewhere no-frills, functional, and unintentionally funny. Let me break it down: Staff: Super friendly and helpful! But the bar? Unmanned. I had to trot over to reception like a lost child to ask them to phone someone to serve me a drink. No buzzer, no bell, no “bing-bong” when you walk in—just tumbleweed vibes until reinforcements arrive. Maybe they’re trying to make the bar feel like a secret club? Room: Booked a compact room, but surprise! Got upgraded to a bigger one with an extra bed. No complaints, although the second bed stared at me all night like it was expecting company. Heating: A real scavenger hunt. Found it behind the curtain (because of course, that’s where you’d hide it). Once located, you’re greeted with a thrilling choice: 2, 6, or 8 hours of heat before it decides you’ve had enough comfort and plunges you back into an Arctic adventure. Fun times! Bed: Springy, bouncy, and downright energetic. If I’d been led into temptation, it would’ve turned into a trampoline show. Forget memory foam—this was more “theme park ride meets budget mattress.” On the plus side, the location is great—super close to Piccadilly train station and just a short walk to the Village, which was a massive bonus. Would I stay there again? Maybe, if I’m skint enough. But let’s be real—I can do better elsewhere.

Rooms were great, very clean and had all we needed. Good size too.

“Ideal space for 1”

The location of the hotel is convenient, just outside of the centre of Manchester. They don't have their own parking so the one they currently use is NCP Square Circle which is about 8 minute walk from the hotel which is not a massive issue for me. The hotel itself is clean and although quite 'busy' in terms of different parts of the hotel, well signposted. The rooms are small, ideal for a single person I'd say and at a stretch a couple of nights stay. The room was clean throughout, the bathroom was a decent size and the shower was great, very powerful and hot! Although, so powerful, that it wouldn't keep the shower head in one place!

I liked my room ,it was cosy and well decorated with style. The shower was exactly how I like it and there was plenty of hot water. The sheets ,pillows and duvets were clean with no stains. The room service was quick and my food was delicious. Last but not least the staff members were outstanding, they helped me with all of my queries and were very polite.I highly recommend Pendulum Hotel to anybody for either a solo or a family vist. It's close to major destinations in the heart of Manchester.
