The apartment was in the centre, just walking out the main door you will feel the crowd going back and forth. This means that is very accessible and very close to the metro (Santo Domingo).

The apartment block is perfectly located for travel: there are two metro stations on different lines within a few yards and bus stops immediately outside and opposite. Most sightseeing is a 20-30 minute walk away or a short metro or bus ride. The downside is the crowds at weekends, particularly in the run up to Christmas, enjoying their paseo along the Gran Via, making it hard to get a drink or a meal nearby. The kitchenette was therefore a blessing: there is a Dia supermarket 5 minutes around the corner where I stocked up on my first evening and a Carrefour down a side-road the other side of the Gran Via. Having paid for breakfast, I was somewhat dismayed to learn I had to go across and up the street to sister establishment Gran Via 42 (only 425 steps in fact), but the surprise was that it was on the 10th floor in the EL.LA Sky Bar - with views from both sides of the restaurant. Breakfast was excellent: a wide-ranging buffet included papaya everyday and the friendly staff took orders for eggs/bacon/pancakes/omelette/avocado toast. Everyone took photos of the view and the children loved it!

Good hotel offering easy access to all major local attractions, as well as the bustling high street and Old Street. While the property is a bit old, it remains a good budget-friendly option, especially for short stays like mine—just two nights three days in Madrid. The room, though not new, was clean and well-maintained.

The terrace! It is a luxury to have that in Madrid. The room was pretty with all the amenities. The staff at reception were helpful in directing us to the nearest medical clinic and finding a cab for us. We especially loved the buffet breakfast at Ella's, even if it was a few steps away from our hotel. The breakfast service was excellent and consistent daily, the avocado toast was delicious, the cold cuts, the hot and cold drinks were very good. And the view during breakfast: amazing!
