The location was very good. It was clean and the staff were very helpful. Daniel, the night concierge, was particularly friendly and helpful.

I loved it! The location was superb, only 5 min walking min, if not less, from Puerta del Sol. So most of the main sights and Madrid's night life were in walking distance. However, I found it still relatively calm at night and I couldn't hear noises from the street although our room faced the road. I really liked the interior and the furniture, too. Very modern, very cute.

Bathroom in each room, clean. Nice plus - a small, common chill-out room in the corridor, with couch and vending machine with soft-drinks and water. Good area to sit on the couch or armchair, because the rooms are very small and if someone needs personal space to read, eat, watch the phone and not disturb other guests in his hostel room etc, he/she can do it in the small "living room". Very helpful staff.

We choose it because we spend here the New Years Eve 5 years ago and now after we got married I wanted to surprise my husband by booking the same room as we had on our first city break together. Unfortunately even if required we did not get the same room because they did not keep the records about bookings… The location is really good especially during New Yers Eve when everyone waits in line for hours to get to Puerta del Sol. You can easily “skip the line” and get to the square without the wait.

It was our second time staying at Hostal Don Alfonso! The staff is so very helpful, the location is wonderful and the rooms are a great value. This time my elderly father was with us and the elevator was so helpful for him. Plaza del Sol is less than 5 minutes, Plaza Mayor is less than 10 minutes, and Palacio National is less than 15 minutes by foot. El Corte Ingles is across the street with a large, wonderful grocery and the rooms have small refrigerators. The hotel is surrounded by the pedestrian zone, metro, and many restaurants, shops and coffee shops. We have enjoyed this pleasant, good value place to stay. The staff is the best.
