Food is awesome and homely. Location is very good, mid of coffee plantation. You can hear beautiful bird chirping and a variety of birds if you go for a stroll. The rooms are clean. Anthony sir and Lidia Mam are very courteous and took care of us very well. If you are a family and longing for an escape from city’s madness and need homely food then this is the perfect place.

FYI - International travellers: This is a hotel managed by a family (staff) that stay next to the premises. Lydia is an excellent chief and manager catering for visitors needs and preparing delicious (which can be spicy) Goan and Keralian meals which she toned down for delicate palates in our group. The hotel is on the grounds of a working coffee plantation and there are some nice walks on the gravel roads. The bathroom is a wet room and had a cold shower but for hot water a bucket and pale is normally used in India which may be considered basic by European standards.

Firstly, the location. It is located in the midst of a well-maintained small coffee plantation, just 9 kms from the city centre. You wake up to the chirping of birds, and enjoy piping hot filter coffee made by a very efficient staff, led by Ms Lidya. The breakfast, purely vegetarian and with local recipes and flavour was unlimited and never repeated over the four days we resided at the home stay. Mr Anthony the Caretaker ensured the staff cleaned the rooms and replenished the bath towels daily. Linen was also changed after two days. As we had opted for half Boarding, Ms Lidya, cooked tasty local veg and nonveg dishes as per our request, besides offering the standard spread. The staff were always available to satisfy your every need. We had a very relaxing stay at Royal Woods
