The rooftop view was spectacular. It is worth it to get up to see the balloons rising over the Valley of the Kings.

The staff is extremely helpful, the location of the hotel is very good, close to everywhere and in a safe area. I read that there was a problem with hot water, but we did not have such a problem, the hot water was flowing very well.

The Merryland Hotel has an excellent location. The wonderfu Luxor Museum is a short walk away. We also found a nice independent coffee shop along the front called DV8 reckoned by the manager. The staff of the hotel are friendly and helpful. The early call to prayer from the mosque is a welcome reminder that I've is in Egypt and the sound of the school children means that this is not some sterile upmarket offering but rather a hotel that gives you a taste of traditional Egyptian hospitality.
