Hotel Overview

Set in the Bussaco National Forest, this 5-star hotel is housed in the hunting palace of the last Portuguese kings. Its elegant restaurant offers a range of exclusive Bussaco wines.
Classic French cuisine and traditional Portuguese dishes are served Palace Hotel do Bussaco’s restaurant. It is decorated with paintings by João Vaz, Moresque ceilings and exotic-wood floors. Guests can try a glass of rare Port vintage at the bar.
The individually decorated rooms have a classic décor and a satellite TV for a modern twist. They all include period furniture, ranging from 18-century to Art-Nouveau pieces, and some rooms overlooks the hotel’s extensive gardens.
Palace Hotel do Bussaco is an excellent example of Manueline-Gothic architecture. Its richly decorated corridors feature antique furnishings, large paintings and traditional Portuguese glazed tiles.

The building and interior take you royal times. It's as if you are in a museum, but you can touch everything and sit on the old chairs. - true masterpieces. Respectfully, for sure. The atmosphere is very soothing. It's very calm here. If you happen to stay when there are no loud guests or big companies in the property, you'll be lucky to enjoy trully quite dinner time and peaceful time in salon with a glass of porto. Everything here makes you slow down, lower your voice and just relax or enjoy the details of the preserved interior. Yet please remember: it's not a gorgeous palace covered in gold, but place for the royal family and their guests to stay during hunting time. It's pretty modest, yet awesome. If you opt for dinner here, try meagre fish for the main dish. It's worth of the gourmet attention.

It is a palace! Absolutely fantastic staff and surroundings. The unique wines produced by the hotel are amazing. We tried the red from 2010 and the white wine from 2010 and 2001. Fantastic wines. This was my second time here and I will return.

This is a real palace and we slept in a museum Every detail was so ethetical and all the history around u and ONE the best track we did in a historical bush and full with artifacts

Beautiful castle and interesting surroundings. We appreciated the presentation of the history of the building when we checked in. Wonderful breakfast.
