Villa Guigini is different from a usual apartment in many ways as it is self catered but with a reception. Even before our arrival Vania contacted me to organise a transfer and suggest a vineyard tour while we waited to check in so this already made it feel like we were in good hands. The apartment was lovely and spacious and had everything we needed with a beautfiul view of the hills. It was also very peaceful and housed in the main villa which I would definitely recommend. They offered a shuttle service which saved us during our stay as we had to go into Lucca every day which is a 20 minute drive and taxis aren't available after 8pm. They were always on time and friendly as were all the people we encountered during our stay here.

The grounds are beautiful and the staff very good. The pool although in a nice location was very noisy with children constantly kicking , throwing and bouncing balls . Squealing and jumping all the time and the parents never corrected their behaviour . It would stop us from rebooking. Our room was very very dark and the several light bulbs went out and there was no hot water for 2 days. Its such a shame that these things happened as it stopped our stay from being what it should have been.
