My review is for the Svalbard Hotel lodge as the vault was closed and I was upgraded to stay at the lodge. Breakfast is amazing. Great spot to access everything.

Most comfortable beds of my entire trip. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast varied for what is attainable so far north. Really had such a great stay

The closeness to the city centre and major supermarkets and shopping alley in the town. Take a taxi if you can, for me it was 30 NOK cheaper than taking an airport shuttle and if there are more than 2 people, a taxi would be the better option here as it is pretty close to the airport. We were upgraded to the Polfareren hotel, so no idea what the Vault looks like. But since they are sister hotels, I can say that the Vault looks much better with a better interior color palette than the Polfareren. The lounge is cozy with free tea, coffee and Gluhwein and they have books and games.

Very nice and neat rooms, very clean. Right in the center of Longyearbyen - very good reachability of everything one can need. Good possibilities to explore the surroundings - many hikes available.

Please note that I was upgrated from Svalbard Hotell // The Vault to sisterhotel Svalbard Hotell // Polfareren so my description is based on “Polfareren”: The room was really spacious and clean. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. Nice breakfast with a lot of options. The Tourist Information is placed right across the road, where you can get information about different tours, maps etc. The location of the hotel was easily accessible from/to the airport with the shuttlebus. And it was easy to go for short walks around town within the polar bear safe area. Shops, restaurants, bars, museum etc. within walking distance of 5 -10 minutes.

The staff were very talkative and helpful, easy to communicate with, the restaurant was very nice with some great food and also the rooms were very comfy and easy to access with a code to enter room instead of a swipe card you could easily misplace. The communal area was also very cozy and nice to sit and relax in front of the fire.

Best location in town, just in the center, in front of bars, restaurants and supermarket. Clean and cozy rooms.
