Inns Overview

Welcome to our 15th Century inn where our modern twist on the traditional creates a wonderful setting to enjoy our food, sample our local ales, explore our wine list and rest a weary head.
The restaurant is open 7 days a week, we are open for Bed & Breakfast only.
Set in the picturesque village of Long Melford in the heart of Suffolk, we celebrate all that is great about our fantastic region – its people, provenance and personality.
When it is time to hit the hay enjoy a restful night’s sleep in one of our ten individually styled bedrooms. Our bedrooms consist of cosy snugs, luxury rooms, a luxury suite and a family room with modern interior styling that is sympathetic to our Georgian building. Amenities in our bedrooms include flat screen TVs, tea and coffee facilities, superfast WIFI and Bramley products.
Wagging tails will always be welcome through our door. So much so, that we have created an overnight stay package and a special dog menu, with your four-legged companion in mind.

This suite has a separate lounge with a large sofa and an antique coffee table, perfect to wind back and relax during your stay. The light and airy bedroom has a beautiful view of the village green, a king sized bed and a spacious en-suite featuring an antique bath and overhead shower, washbasin and heated towel rail. The suite is equipped with a flat-screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities, high-speed Wi-Fi and Bramley bath and body products.

This suite features two linked bedrooms. The master bedroom features a king sized bed and the ‘kids’ room is fitted with bunk beds. A large en-suite bathroom features a modern bath with an overhead shower, basin and heated towel rail. Both rooms feature traditional, antique furniture and luxurious beds. This room features a flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities, high-speed Wi-Fi and Bramley bath and body products.

I loved everything about my stay at The Black Lion. In all but name this is a luxury boutique hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, super quality facilities and very dog-friendly with dogs being allowed throughout the hotel. A Santa stocking on the door of each room on Christmas morning was a thoughtful and lovely touch.

The view from room 2 at the Black Lion looking down over the village green towards Melford Hall (National Trust) is one of the best we have seen from any hotel. England at its finest. The food at the Black Lion is simply amazing and it is accompanied by a fine selection of wines and beers. Service is great and the staff are very friendly.
