Lovely building, fabulous staircase, the lounge was the perfect place to relax in the evening, nice decor in keeping with the building, the owner is welcoming, the waiter was polite, the hotel is dog friendly, the food is delicious (especially the steak and trio of sausages), the location is great,we stayed in room 5 which had a comfortable double bed.

staff and owner very friendly and accomodating. Dinner was excellent and reasonably priced. Hotel decked for Christmas with huge tree and a log fire in the hall, looked lovely. Very dog friendly.

As soon as we came in, the member of staff saw that I was with my elderly mother and immediately got to change our room number as he knew that ours was on the second floor and there is no lift. He called a gentleman who was going to be at the hotel on our 3rd night, and asked if he would kindly swap rooms, which the kind man did. Our room was clean and comfy. Karen greeted us with a big smile and 'Good Morning' every day for breakfast and was an absolute joy! She got my mum a cushion to sit on, and it would be ready, on her chair every morning. Nothing was too much to ask! Great location. We chose to eat our evening meals there, and enjoyed a varied menu with lots of choices.

Home cooking for tea. Was absolutely delicious. Area was great for hikers but most importantly Dave and wife where the best hosts and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Lovely fire at entrance and a beautiful staircase leading up to the rooms. If your going to stay here, look on wowcher for a much lower cost as this place is not worth 160 a night - even with fried breaky. Either have continental or poached eggs on toast.

The staff were all very helpful, one lady in particular I would like to mention,she showed us to our room and also looked after us in the morning. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was vey good with plenty of choice.
