Room was quiet and secure even though it was on the ground floor. Everything was clean, it worked. The bathroom was lovely and the amenities surprisingly good.

I always stay at the Mercure Launceston when I am in town. The rooms are always very clean and the beds are so comfortable. Nice short stroll into town for shopping and dinner. I had a last minute booking this time and unfortunately it was quite a lot more expensive than normal.

Staff were welcoming, the restaurant was great. The toiletries provided were a top choice. The minibar is extensive with well priced snacks and drinks. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy. The location was good but you need a car to get to most cafes and restaurants; otherwise it’s a long and chilly walk. Our room was noisey, hence the 7/10. We could hear people walking past, let alone pull their luggage. We were woken at 2:17am by a conversation outside our sliding door (someone on the phone then a group of people talking) so that side isn’t well soundproofed but the walls generally are. We spent most of the daytime hours out and about and only really stayed at the hotel of an evening. If a place to eat [breakfast and dinner] and sleep is mostly what you need, The Mercure is a great choice. All in all, we (travelling friends) were happy.

I admit, my expectations were not super high based on Hobart Mercure and so the Launceston Mercure was a lovely surprise! Its in a quiet location which I really appreciated. We had asked for a quiet room - tick. We had asked for a mattress topper if the mattress was a hard mattress - tick. Nothing was too much trouble - tick! Really helpful staff, free parking, clean room and a good night's sleep. What more could you ask for! It's a no frills hotel, but all of our needs were met and more. Exceeded my expectations and I would definitely stay again as such good value.

This was a Hotel of two halves. Accommodation, housekeeping and front office staff were all five star. The food sde was a different story.
