Love and I mean Love my stay in yamadaya ryokan, every single staff was amazing from the moment I step into the ryokan to the moment I left. The older lady who owned the ryokan was so nice and patient with explaining everything to me with a translation device and was very friendly, there were no lift at the ryokan but my heavy luggage was delivered to my room. Lady at the front desk was also very kind/caring and offered me a warm pack as it was a cold day when I was there. Ordered the dinner (a must, trust me) and the younger waitress was also super patient in explaining each of the dishes and the meaning of the dishes. Wish I could have stayed longer. Everything about this place was amazing.

It was absolutely exceptional experience! We can highly recommend staying here, relaxing at onsen, and tasting the amazing kaiseki dinner. The staff is very helpful and super-friendly.

Тhe staff was super, very kind and friendly. Тhe traditional Japanese dinner was also at a very high level, varied and delicious dishes. The onsen is also worth a visit, it's a must do in Japan

The people who run this ryokan are so friendly and helpful. The obachan makes small talk with a translation app. The bellman lifted our super heavy suitcases up flights of stairs for us. Lovely people. Very nice baths after long days of walking.

This lovely Ryokan was situated a short walk from Kyoto station, just opposite the Higashi Hongan-Ji temple. Our hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the two onsens on site (which rotate daily to make sure all guests get a chance to experience the onsen with garden view) and also loved the traditional breakfast and dinners. Overall would highly recommend this Ryokan!

Excellent Japanese style traditional breakfast, very helpful and friendly staff, close to the train station (10 min on foot). A big temple just opposite.
