Ryokan Overview

Located in central Arashiyama district, Ranzan offers accommodations with free wired internet access. Guests can refresh in the spacious public baths and relax by the traditional garden. Free Wi-Fi is available at the public areas. Hankyu Arashiyama Train Station and JR Saga Arashiyama Train Station are both a 15-minute walk away.
The air-conditioned rooms feature a flat-screen TV, a fridge and an electric kettle with green tea bags. The en suite bathroom comes with a hairdryer and an air purifier is provided in each room. Guests can choose to stay in traditional rooms with tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding or in rooms with Western beds and carpeted floors.

Ranzan Ryokan is a 10-minute walk from Tenryu-ji Temple and a 20-minute public bus ride from Daikaku-ji Temple. JR Kyoto Train Station is a 30-minute train ride away.

Rooms are not what are shown. So expect smaller and less updated. I liked the location, the staff and it met the basic needs of a safe, space to sleep and explore the city.

The location was incredible, right by the Arashiyama bamboo forest and the Katsura River.

Even this hotel is a little far from the station, no transportation service, but it’s besides the river and near to the shopping street, has great location for Arashiyama sightseeing. The building was old and small, the window can not be opened, without river view, but there were lovely well-cared Japanese gardens, big common tub, nice bed, so our stay was still comfortable. We had really Lenten breakfast buffet there, the lineup can not be more frugal, but the price is only 2000en so that was acceptable.

it's a very peaceful place, very comfortable and clean. all the staff was super kind. it's possible to use the public bath, that's super nice.
