It was in a great location close to Ninenzaka and Sanenzaka streets. We had an authentic Japanese style room that was very clean and we had our own shower and the toilet was just outside the apartment. The staff were really friendly and always greeted us at the door and were more than happy to help us with ordering taxis for our large group.

The location was unbeatable! Right next to the incredibly busy old streets (with a ton to see) but once you turn the corner to walk up a small slope to the ryokan - it’s a whole new world of quiet. It was great to walk around the streets at night when the mess of tourists had left. The view from the roof terrace was amazing and it was such a nice area to hang out. The futons were so comfortable to sleep on, and the toilet and showers were in great condition. Each room has its own designated toilet/shower, it is just that one needs to step out of their room and take a few steps to the designated toilet/shower but it is all within the ryokan so no inconvenience at all. All the hosts were incredibly hospitable, but a big shout out goes to Himari and Ayana who were an absolute pleasure to chat with and made us feel right at home. The optional breakfast is also a must have!

What a wonderful experience, the staff went above and beyond to make our experience the best. It felt like staying with family. The breakfast was delicious, the futons were comfortable, the views from the viewing deck spectacular, and it was really quiet place and relaxing accommodation. I highly recommend any family or couple to stay. Thank you

Location is perfect. But have to say this is overpriced for services and amenities délivered . You are paying the place.

The staff were absolutely excellent and extremely friendly and helpful. The location is amazing as it is just meters off the main streets of Higashiyama and yet is very quiet. The sleeping arrangements for the four of us were fine but be aware that space is limited as you would expect.

Haru was so welcoming when we arrived. The rooms were very clean, the rooftop has an incredible view & the Japanese breakfast was delicious - highly recommend! The location is perfect for getting around Kyoto. We had a fantastic stay here and will definitely return in the future :)

A wonderful Japanese guest house which offers you the perfect oasis of tranquility just off the buzzling streets of Kyoto, but never far away from the most important sightseeing places in the East of Kyoto. On top, a host who has an amazing art to welcome his guests and who truly cares about them.

It’s a great place to stay for Japanese charm and atmosphere. The futons were surprisingly comfortable and the two boys running the hotel are super sweet and friendly. We didn’t use the rooftop bath but the views from the terrace are fabulous, it’s a lovely spot to relax with a beer. The place is also surprisingly quiet for how close it is the the tourist highway a street away. The location is in the heart of the old district and close to a lot of temples so would be a great place if that’s where you want to explore.

Really nice staff, both Haru and the young lady! Great Japanese breakfast, simple and very nice room with separate but private toilet and shower. Bath in the top floor is a nice experience and the view from the roof terrace is really nice. Location is a minute or two away from the Ninenzaka steps.
