An amazing place to stay. I felt like I was staying with family, everyone is so friendly and kind. Mama also explained to me how to use the local sento (bathhouse). As I stayed over the New Year we also went to pray at a local shrine just after midnight. Breakfast included: tea/coffee/juice, toast, an egg, small salad, small plate of fruit and a little cup of yogurt. They also have two cats: Gii and Neru who generally keep to themselves but also are happy to receive pats cuddles. Staying here was one of the highlights of my trip, if I ever come back to Kyoto I will want to stay here!

Mama and papa were both very accommodating and made sure travellers felt warm. We have never experienced meeting travellers from so many countries living in the same house. Haha. We stayed 1 night at the garden room and 1 night at the dorm. The garden room was so pretty and felt luxurious. The futon beds were really comfortable with the electric blankets. It was thick and did not have back ache. Wished we stayed at least 2 nights. The toilets was modern. Hearty simple breakfast which was not only filling but healthy and lovely! :) they had bread with spreads, salad, yoghurt, milk, coffee or tea. thanks for the photos and good memories. It was no regret to stay here during my first trip in Japan. There are bus stops nearby within 4-7 mins walking distance.

Property is closer to everything, bus stations , easy to access. It is like traditional japan house thats what i was here for to experience. Specially the owner ( Mama) is super person soo friendly. You will have breakfast there like you having with family. I will recommend this place to everyone

I like my stay to Guesthouse Kyoto Compass, even its not in the prime location. Mama San and Papa San make my stay very comfortable. They make sure to help you of you have trouble in some stuff.

Great guesthouse in Kyoto. Mama-san and Papa-san are realy kind and caring. As a solo traveler I felt welcomed, safe and almost like home. I hope to stay there again in the future.
