The best property we stayed at in Japan! Conveniently located 10-15 minutes from Kyoto station as well as being only a 30 minute walk from the city centre. Facilities were amazing and it felt homely

Nice old Kyoto vibes in this hostel. Love the heated kotetsu in the communal space during the winter! The staff are also very nice and helpful too.

Lovely machiya in a wonderful area of Kyoto. I really liked that it was within walking distance of the train station and central areas. Plenty of metro/bus routes in the area as well. You can walk to the river through residential neighbourhoods. There is a great lounge room downstairs with a kitchen (microwave/hot water/fridge, no stove). There are thousands of boardgames and this made it easy to socialize. I was there for New Year's Eve and there was a lovely party with food, games, and excellent conversation. The hostel seems to attract a lot of Chinese and Japanse guests, and the atmosphere was really friendly. I fell and needed medical care for a broken hand and they helped me locate a hospital where I could get treatment. The hostel is very clean and the beds in the dorm are comfortable. There are curtains for privacy and wifi is strong. There is a little courtyard garden + a place to dry laundry outside. Toilets and showers are just off the courtyard and can get a bit cold in winter, but they had heated mats on the floor to help with that. I would love to visit this hostel again!
