great host, great breakfast, not too busy but still central. it’s a great place to stay if you want to stay in a old house with excellent breakfast!!

Felt like an air bnb but with exceptional service and support from the owner Chieko, who makes a lovely breakfast and is very patient with her explanations of how to use the smart appliances in the residence. Very calming and peaceful atmosphere, also quite close to the station.

Our stay in Azukiya was amazing. Chieko's warmth, kindness and hospitality is truly exceptional, and we were so lucky to have 4 nights of it! The location is great, 20 minute walk or a short subway or bus ride into town, while being close to Ginza, Kyomizu-dera and museums in East Kyoto. The teishoku style breakfasts are easily the best breakfasts we had in our trip across Japan. The room we had was big and comfortable, with AC and air purifier for the summer heat and humidity. Being able to use laundry and rent bikes were also excellent.

A beautiful Machiya guest house where we felt comfortable and warmly welcomed by Chieko. In a quieter neighborhood but with many incredible places to visit nearby.

Azukiya is a wonderfully traditional Japanese ryokan that has been tastefully decorated and renovated. The hostess of the ryokan was very welcoming and incredibly helpful. We’d highly recommend it.

it was a great experience to stay in a traditional machiya. the host was excellent and the property itself very nice but the ceiling was quite low for tall people.

Everything, from the kindness of the host to the atmosphere. The little garden behind the room was amazing and relaxing. We had to spend time in the room because of the weather so it was amazing to feel at home. There was the chance to rent the bike from the host (normal and electric ones) and it was beautiful to visit Kyoto in a different way.
