The location and History of the hotel are wonderful. Lily who runs it was excellent, helpful, hardworking and very polite.

An absolutely huge building. I got vibes of the "Grand Hotel Budapest" movie, with a nearly empty hotel. They let me put my touring bicycle in a large ballroom kind of room. I hope that the echoing emptiness was just the lowest of low season, because I think only saw 6 or 7 other guests at this place which could accommodate hundreds! But for any other cycling guests, be aware that the hotel is located at the top of a steep climb. Be prepared to get off and push!

The hotel obviously has a ton of history - the architecture and interior decoration will remind you in case you forgot. Nevertheless, the rooms have kept that careful balance between comfortable - with all modern ameneties - and traditional - respecting the weight of history. Breakfast was decent enough - served between 8:30 and 10 only though.
