We loved the comfortable riverside cottage. The activities we participated in were so much fun. As well as a brilliant cook Jesarth is passionate about the local food and community.

The property is lovely and its sat in a nice location next to the backwaters, next to a road but its not heavy with traffic. The room is very comfortable and it has everything you need for a pleasant stay. Jes (your host and chef) is very wam hearted and open minded and a great teacher if you want to learn about Keralan cuisine as I did. The cooking class I did with him was wonderful and we both enjoyed chatting with each other and exchanging ideas about all sorts of things. He is a great asset to the place and at times although he was a little stretched with his time at times. He always made sure I was being looked after even when he was also trying to cook and serve for other guests booked in for dinner or breakfast following a boat trip. Oh and the food he creates is incredibly tasty, I cannot wait to put into practice some of the new skills / knowledge I now have. There is a happy and laidback vibe at Little Chembaka and I would definitely recommend the place.

Incredible stay with Jes and his team. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and that we were well looked after. The tours they offer are unforgettable (Toddy shop tour and sunrise boat tour are a must) and really let you experience the true local culture and beauty of Kumarakom and its backwaters. We were treated to some of the best food we had in Kerala, Jesvanth is an amazing chef and is very open to sharing his knowledge of the local cuisine and his own learnings. Thoroughly recommend Little Chembaka to anyone looking for a proper taste of local culture and some truly unforgettable experiences.

This is an exceptional place and experience. Little Chembaka is very recently built with contemporary design taste using natural and quality material. The garden is kept meticulously. The room is spacious and the facilities are in perfect conditions. The patio offers breathtaking views directly on the backwaters. The Wi-fi is strong. One can go to do the small and private boat tour around the backwaters directly from the property. In addition what makes this stay exceptional is the host Jes and his team. Jes has extensive first hand experience of Europe and its culture, he is an amazing progressive person and a very skilled cook. The meals are the best we have had in our 2+ weeks win Kerala as they are authentic and fresh - you can see Jes cooking in the Wonderwerk purposely designed kitchen at any time. The activities offered are special. A must the sunrise private tour along the small backwaters that can be reached from the property. Especially recommended is the "food and cultural tour (of 6 hours)". Jes, who is native of Kumarakom, takes you to an unmatchable tour of handpicked places that represent the life of the local community (bus, cafes, local school, temple, food markets, frequented by the local people). We have met and spoken to local people and learned a tremendous amount. Top marks for everything!

Super comfortable and well maintained. Great night’s sleep even in the thunderstorms. Beautiful location, complete with own river boats and kayaks. Jes runs the show and it is like having your own private chef. Most delicious food we have had after 3 weeks in India.

When I booked, never imagined that Little Chembaka was packed with pleasant surprises which made our stay truly memorable. Jeswanth and team are amazing hosts who not only ensured the room and service was top notch, but, also shared amazing details about the place and neighbourhoods to make us connect with place and elevate our overall experience beyond expectation. Food was a delight, Jeswanth is an incredible chef and served us one of the best local preparations we had on this trip. Stories help us create a long lasting connection with any place, and this place has a story and narrative with a soul. Would love to visit again. Highly recommended.

Our stay at Little Chembaka on the backwaters of Kerala was one of the highlights of our six months of traveling. The setting is absolutely serene, with just one room on the property, it offered an intimate connection with the hosts and the surroundings. There are various experiences offerred at Little Chembaka, and we opted for the sunrise tour of the backwaters. This was more than just sightseeing – we had meaningful interactions with the locals, gaining a fascinating insight into village life. Little Chembaka also offers a cooking experience that is not to be missed. Jesvanth, a fantastic cook, guided us through a visit to the local markets to select high-quality ingredients, and then we learned to prepare several delicious traditional dishes. What made this homestay truly stand out was its commitment to the local community, with every aspect of the experience thoughtfully integrated to support the people living in the local area. It was a wonderfully authentic stay, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic,immersive and truly special experience in Kerala.
