Loved the castle that we were allowed to explore on our own after we checked in. Was like both a hotel and an excursion wrapped into one. Breakfast was included in the price and it was fabulous.

Our favorite place to stay during our 2 week trip to Germany. The castle is just as amazing as it looks in the pictures! The owners are great!

Excellent location, friendly hosts, and good food. Best of all was that you could explore the castle on your own after visiting hours, which is a huge perk as a hotel guest. I loved it, I'll be back!

Me and my son made a tour around Fränkische Alp to look at castles and other historical landmarks. We also stayed in some of the castles. We were focusing especially on castles with a more "medieval" appearance rather than later palaces. Burg Katzenstein was a wonderful place to stay. It had everything we were looking for. The restauration had been made very nicely keeping the medieval character. The castle also included nice museum parts, and everything from a quite scary tower (the stairs felt as from the days the castle was built) to an equally scary dungeon (entered through a narrow tunnel). The bedroom was nice, very spacious, light and clean. Very nice staff (but it helped to know some German). Nice breakfast and good choice also for food for dinner. Good location only 20 min by car from lovely Nördlingen. Nice, large, firm kingsize beds.
