Guesthouse Vavitsas is placed close to the edge of Kastraki, almost at the foot of the road that leads to the monasteries. The place is wonderfully homely: cozy, clean, quiet and beautifully decorated. The hosts are helpful, hospitable and very accommodating to reasonable requests (e.g. I arrived very late on my first day, so they arranged for me to get my key in an appropriate manner). It is very conveniently placed. Stepping outside, you can very easily choose to go to the center of Kastraki (and have some freshly baked bread, or food at a tavern), take one of the paths ascending the mountains to the monasteries, or take the footpath to Kalambaka. Definitely a great place to stay when visiting.

I travelled in winter, the room was very warm and comfortable with a great hot shower. It's one of the last houses in the village, closest to the monasteries and it's possible to take the forest path to Varlaam and Great Meteroa very easily, and only a 10 minute walk into the village although there are restaurants a few mins away as well. They have space for 3 cars and a lot of street parking.

It is on a very good spot just next to the rocks. Very clean and tidy. Comfortable bed and a good bathroom. I would recommend staying here when visiting Meteora.
