The fine print
Sama al Wasil Desert Camp is only reachable by 4x4. If you do not have a 4x4 vehicle yourself, the camp can book a transfer for you with the local Bedouin. Note the rates charged are the rates of the Bedouin themselves and not of the camp. You can request a transfer with dune bashing or without. Transfer meeting time is 3 pm at the Al Maha Petrol station. Transfers are subject to availability at time of booking. Request in Advance is essential.In our continuous efforts to provide comfortable stay and enhance our facilities, we will be undergoing a room, restaurant and reception refurbishment program during the month of Sep 2023. The renovation will take place from 9 am to 6 pm daily and our guest may experience limited disruption of some noise. Our sincere thanks in advance for your patience and support during this time.Please inform in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation.

Absolutely everything. Staff were so helpful with arranging activities and smiling and friendly, the accommodation was great, the communal areas were comfortable and well stocked, and the food was very tasty with lots of options. The outdoor cinema showed 2 movies a night and was such a unique experience to watch under the stars.

A great desert camp with our own standalone accommodation for the family. Easy access to the dunes for sun set. The buffet supper was excellent.

It was clean and in a nice place, not far away from the motorway but already in a place were you can sense to be really in the desert.

It is beautifully situated towards impressive dunes. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We had a tent for 3 people. It was a double bed and a small folding bed, not really convenient for adults. A small bathroom where there was a basic shower and toilet. Breakfast was nice with a buffet with plenty of choice.

Perfect stop to discover the desert atmosphere, mainly the dunes and all they have to offer. In particular, our little chalet was simplistic and romantic. The friendly staff and nice atmosphere throughout the hotel, the open air cinema and open dining area were outstanding. Finally we really loved the quad tour. For our two night stay in the desert it was the perfect place. 4WD car is mandatory or a pick up can be organised by the hotel.

Amazing spot. Lovely set up and great for our family of 4. Food was great- I'm not sure why some people in the reviews are complaining. It's easy enough to get to from the highway- let tyres down at the tyre repair shop on the sliproad before entering Al Wasil township and keep going. The climb up the dunes behind the camp was great- took about 10mins max to get to the top and we did it a few times to get the 4yo to burn off energy. The outdoor movies were great too- one children's movie at 6pm and an adult selection at 8pm. We also did the camel ride and a 4WD up the dunes so we could take our 10mo up with us. It was all fantastic. The 4yo is still talking about how he misses the desert

Beautiful camp. Friendly staff. Good for families. Comfortable rooms, nice common dining/lounge area, nice open air cinema, and a few desert activities to get entertained. My pre-teens loved it!
