Traveller reviews

“Lovely historical hotel.”
29 Jan 2025
The decor of the entire hotel was beautiful. The hosts were lovely to talk to and very helpful about local attractions.

“Beautifully appointed hotel, charming, comfortable and clean with a wonderful quiet vibe”

I have now stayed at The Lodge 3 or 4 times for several reasons- the vibe, comfort, old school charm, unpretentious but stately! also the location and Jeff who is lovely!

“Superb”
21 Jan 2025
The location is really good. It is a short walk (slight uphill) to North Hobart (so many restaurant choices) or slight downhill to Hobart CBD. The rooms are spacious and well decorated with lovely furniture. There is a large guest lounge with books which has a lovely old English charm. There is a microwave available for use in the dining room. The back garden is very peaceful. The hotel was easy to find, and has a set of stairs coming up from Elizabeth Street and another entrance way directly onto Warwick Street (where you can park using a permit from the hotel) once you have your keys, which also has steps up. The room was very quiet overnight and the Wi-Fi worked well.

“Comfortable and clean stay in a great location with very friendly staff”

Great location, really accommodating and friendly staff, and great facilities.

“Brilliant”
12 Jan 2025
This hotel provides a revisiting to a world no longer possible. A guest lounge with complimentary glass of port or tea and coffee A manager who was more than welcoming and gracious when we arrived. The hotel is located perfectly in the North Hobart food precinct with options available from so many local and international eateries. We could not be happier and highly recommend this hotel to all visiting Hobart.

“Beautiful heritage listed property.”

It is a beautiful and very old house. Well maintained though. Built 1840? Possibly. Central location in Hobart.

“Delightful, historic building with plenty of charm, welcoming hosts and clean, comfortable room.”
10 Sep 2024
We were only there for a brief overnight stay, but Geoff was very welcoming and helpful. The room was quiet and spacious, it was very clean and the bed and pillows were super comfortable. The lodge is situated very close to the port and we found great food to eat very close on Elizabeth Street. The facilities looked great- a charming sitting room and cosy dining area. It would have been lovely to stay longer and be able to appreciate everything that The Lodge had to offer.

“Lovely old place in a great location”

Great location in North Hobart, lovely old furnishings and very accommodating owner.

“A nice warm and friendly place to stay. Close to restaurants, transport and walking distance to the centre of Hobart. Je”

We liked the location and quaintness of the accommodation. It was also lovely and warm

“Lovely owner, Lovely place”
03 May 2024
It was a last minute booking and yet the owner warmly welcomed us. We stayed at a spa room and the bathtub was big and clean, and I really liked the high ceilings. I have to mention, they had make-up removers as amenities and I was surprised cause you don't find them very often in Australia. The electric blankets really helped us at night. The garden and the lobby were pretty too. Parking was easy for us since it was on weekends but it might be hard on weekdays. We used rental scooters to get to the Salamanca market for fun, it took us about 25 mins. We really enjoyed our stay!
