I won't hide the fact, we chose The Old Swan because it was the place where Agatha Christie went into hiding. The decor and atmosphere of the place felt unchanged from 1926 when the author spent 10 days here. With many Hotels if the decor feels 100 years old it's because it's unmaintained and in need of refurbishment. You can tell by loose door handles, cracked plaster and threadbare carpets. The Old Swan wasn't like this, everything was impeccably maintained and it felt like a movie set. The room and public areas were great, the bar was quirky and decent but the spectacular breakfast room was absolutely fantastic and the highlight of the whole lot. Room price was fair. Plenty of parking was available (which I was worried there wouldn't be). Harrogate city centre was a very short walk away (we came back and forth 2 or 3 times). Harrogate had loads of great restaurants and bars.

We loved our stay at this hotel. Great location. Loved the decor. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room very clean and comfortable. Superb shower. Lovely breakfast. It was a treat to stay at this hotel. Would highly recommend.

The hotel is in a great location for walking to the main bars, restaurants and attractions in Harrogate. Parking is available when buying a permit from reception. We ordered breakfast to our room when we stayed as it was mother's day so fancied a treat! Room service was perfect. Easy to order the night before and we received everything at the requested time. Nothing major to dislike other than the hotel could do with a refresh. Still very clean, comfortable and has everything you need.

Great location. The Old Swan is true to it's history and era, very atmospheric. Great breakfast included in the price.Would recommended the afternoon tea, it was lovely. We will be returning!

It is a very interesting place to stay and an enjoyable experience to be there. The hotel has a lot of atmosphere and they have managed to retain the character while giving the hotel a necessary contemporary style that is appealing and comfortable. The fixtures and fittings are mostly stylish and in good order, with the older features retained and clear to see such as the revolving doors, cornicing and staircases, mixed with luxurious contemporary carpets and seating, so it does not look tired or dated and depressing. There was plenty atmosphere and good offers at the bar. There were ample fresh options at breakfast and the area is close to the town centre in a lovely area, and surrounded by a garden. There were a lot of staff that were friendly and approachable.

Very noisy like generator outside had very little sleep duvet and pillows of poor quality does not meet the requirement for such a beautiful historic Hotel the staff were very helpful and polite and the restaurant the food was excellent hotel in an excellent location the rooms let the hotel down as they're in fair condition and need upgrading
