Hotel Overview

Only 5 minutes from Happo-One Ski Resort on the hotel’s free shuttle, Double Black features indoor hot-spring baths, a Western/Japanese restaurant and free Wi-Fi throughout. The modern rooms have tatami-mat floors and an LCD TV.
Rooms at Double Black Hotel mix traditional Japanese style with modern amenities and Western beds. All are heated and include a yukata robe. The en suite bathroom has a shower.
A free shuttle is also offered to/from JR Hakuba Train Station and Happo Bus Terminal, a 15-minute drive away. Hakuba Museum and Ski Jump Stadium are a 10-minute drive, and the hotel has free parking.
The hotel rents ski equipment and has a tune-up/storage room. A games room with a Playstation is available, and babysitting services are on offer. The hot-spring baths can be reserved for private use during certain hours.
A hot/cold breakfast is served and illy espresso coffee is available for purchase, and dinner can also be eaten at the hotel’s restaurant. The bar stocks a range of imported wines, local and imported beers, a wide range of spirits and sake. The bar has a daily happy hour where the bartender can serve special cocktails.

“A delightful stay!”

We thought the Double Black Hotel was in a great location as it’s nestled between Hakuba Happo Village and Wadano, and not far to Evergreen International Ski School. It is a delightful ten minute stroll away from these places. When I say delightful I mean it was like walking in a perfect winter wonderland with a snowscape all around. It was just stunning! The beds were comfortable and the rooms nice a warm, with adjustable heating that we turned down at night as the doonas were super warm and cosy! As a family of four we booked two twin rooms and the hotel was able to accomodate us with adjoining rooms with internal access, perfect for us. Without a doubt the most fabulous thing about this venue were the staff. They were all super friendly and supportive, helping us out whenever we had a question or needed help of any kind. A big shout out to all of the staff, especially Koko and Travis who were outstanding! Thanks Double Black 🖤🖤🤍🤍

For the most part it was pretty good. Nice quiet location. Breakfast was nice each morning. Did like that you could book private onsen. Drying room was great. The majority of staff were lovely, just issues with our initial welcome.
