The owners are a lovely couple who will do anything to make the stay as comfortable as possible for you! We could leave our luggage before check-in and after check-out, we got gifts + we were driven around to the things we wanted to visit! The private hot springs are also nothing short of amazing. 10/10 would recommend!

The owners provided fantastic service, nothing was too much trouble. They were very helpful and generous. Great sense of humour too! Love the private onsen.

The elderly gentleman looked after us really well. We came early before check in and he pointed us to some good places to travel in the neighbouring region and even drove us to a nearby spot! The onsen was so nice and available 24/7. The room was spacious and we felt very spoilt.

We loved the owners and the property. Ok it’s not 5 star but it has so much charm and character. Truly a Japanese experience rather than a western style hotel. The owners were just magnificent and when we left my daughter said it was like leaving family. I think that sums her words sum our stay up best. Also you must try the osen baths!

The rooms were great, lots of space with traditional tatami flooring and futon beds. Beautiful views from the window Clean rooms Amazing 24hr onsen Great location Absolutely lovely hosts, really nice people and made our stay a wonderful experience Great place to stay if you want a traditional Ryokan experience

The owners are so nice and helpful!!! Helped booked reservations at restaurants in the area and drove us to our first location to start the day. The onsens available are well looked after as well as the room we stayed in. Definitely a highlight to our trip and honestly the most memorable. Also if your following google maps don’t go up the steep steps!!! There’s a smoother route you just need to go back down the road a bit.

It was a pleasure to stay here. The lady who assisted us during check-in and throughout our stay was very kind, helpful, and friendly. This is what I call great hospitality. At the end of the day, you can enjoy a private onsen, which is fantastic.

We had such a nice stay here. The hosts are amazing and will do everything in their power to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We highly recommend this stay in Hakone.

From the moment you step in you, you'll be greeted with warmth and genuine affection by the two hosts. The accommodation is cosy and, as others have said, is similar to staying at your grandparents, which is genuinely lovely. The onsen was excellent, and the indoor one is definitely worth a visit. The accommodation is quiet at night and close to both a bus stop and a train station. They recommended we have dinner at a local restaurant, Mori Meshi, and definitely do as its also delicious, and you'll be sure to be driven to and from by the host. Would stay again next time we're in the region. Thank you for the memories!

The hosts are an elderly couple who were absolutely hospitable and kind. The place has an authentic vibe and it was great getting a little lost in it, since the inside looks way bigger than the outside. It has an indoor and outdoor private onsen which we all tried, but our favorite is definitely the peaceful outside one. Since there is no food at the inn we already brought some with us, but we were recommended many places and the owners would book them for us and bring us to-from. We were not that hungry so we did not take up on the offer, but it was extremely kind of them. The room was big and was furnitured nicely, and our futons were already layed out since we arrived in the evening. We were also provided with yukatas and haoris which were comfortable and was nice to wear. We only stayed for one night but wishing it was more! Jin-san also offered to take us to Sounzan station on the next morning since we had Hakone Freepass and wanted to go to Owakudani via ropeway. Even though it was extremely foggy, he took us to the station by car and even asked the staff if the ropeway is operating in this weather. Highly recommended place with amazing hosts! If we have the chance to come back, we'll definitely book Tsukinoya again! :)
