“A very pleasant experience but just a bit expensive.”

Very nice private onsen that was available upon booking. This was the only ryokan that was happy to cater for us being vegetarians and we appreciate it!

“Excellent service”

Excellent service. I arrived at the hotel after 7:30pm and the hotel called and saved the dinner for us. Very considerate as there’s no shops or restaurants near the hotel. The staffs were helpful.

It was the highlight of our trip to Japan. We loved everything about this place - very friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, private onsen, beautiful interiors and surrounding nature. I hope we can go back one day!

“A magical stay in traditional Japan”

The staff were absolutely amazing. The dinner and breakfast were big and delicious and really gave us a good introduction to traditional Japan. The room was beautiful and we easily took a bus to and from any tourist locations or the trains. Overall a very memorable experience.

“Wonderful Historic Hotel with amazing meals included. Super Spacious Rooms! WOW!”
26 Oct 2024
We stayed three nights and the food was incredible! The onsen was wonderful! The size of the room and the comfort factor was wonderful. We experienced an earthquake while staying here the second night and it was a serious shaker. The futon shook and shook and then I could hear the old bones of this historic hotel rattling on for what seemed longer than it was. Anyway... I'm from California, so I don't mind an earthquake now and then. It was fun! This place is so warm and welcoming... the happy hour bar that goes for way more than an hour is wonderful. I got to sample some delicious sakes and wow... they were great! It was raining the day we checked out and they gave us two umbrellas to keep for our journey. I LOVE JAPAN!

“Highly recommended historic ryokan for a relaxing time”

Beautiful historic ryokan in relaxing location convenient for touring the key attractions. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We loved dinner with the traditional yukata clothes. The kaiseki meals were presented beautifully. Would definitely recommend to stay here!

“Great traditional ryokan experience with brilliant onsen, private and public”

“Highly professional, but friendly and serene ryokan”

Being situated away from the main towns, this quiet location is perfect for this style of hotel and those looking for peace and quiet while also seeing more of nature. Basically an introvert's dream house. Loved the first stay so much I made an unplanned second reservation on the same day I checked out on the 12th! The staff were ever so polite and attentive in their profession. There is always someone outside of the premise to greet guests who are just arriving for check in or coming back after a venture out into the nearby towns so it's always a hassle free and welcoming entry into the ryokan. We stayed in "Komui" which is on the second floor with a private semi outdoor onsen. The room and baths are very clean. The private onsen in the room is constructed with wood and feels newly replaced, ie very clean; the hot water is hot spring water and not normal hot water. The meal is a Kaiseki style, and as we stayed for two nights and three days, each breakfast and dinner have different menu for the second set. Despite our tiny stomachs the portions were adequate, and the dishes were very well presented, high quality and most of all delicious. Would definitely love to come back during winter to experience the ryokan in a snowy season, if fate allows it.
