“We returned here after 6 years and had another wonderful stay”
18 Jan 2025
This was our second time staying here as we liked it so much the first time! The private onsen was amazing and a real draw. We loved our room and the staff were really lovely - especially the lady who served our meals. The kaiseki was a memorable experience and delicious.

“Will definatley book again :)”
04 Jan 2025
Dinner was exceptional. IT was a classical Ryokan dinner, containing many ingredients which were fitted for the current season. But: If you don't like Japanese food, you will not like the dinner and breakfast.

“A must-do for visiting Japan.”

Really fun experience staying at this traditional hotel and onsen. The staff were very helpful and polite. The food was really good and felt very authentic. Onsen was very clean and welcoming. A must-do for visiting Japan.

“Superb”

Amazing, very old ryokan with all the charm that comes with, as well as very welcoming staff and great private bath 🌋

“Good value Ryokan”
12 Oct 2024
I think the value, in comparison to most Ryokans, is quite good. Rooms are large but outdated and clearly lived in. The onsens are very nice and the food was great. I kind of liked the location although make sure you're ok being in the middle of nowhere. You will be reliant on a car or public transportation (Which is frequent enough)

“The facilities, staff and room were all amazing!”

The staff were extremely helpful and all the facilities were extremely clean!

“You can feel the history”
23 Sep 2024
This place is 300 years old and they are proud of their heritage and you can really feel the history. Sure, some spots can use a bit of paint or a touch up, but this just add to the charm. The owners and staff all feel very traditional and only speak a few (but enough) words of English. Breakfast (included) and Dinner (needs to be booked) are set and very traditional Japanese. We tried both the private and public baths and both were excellent.

“Amazing first time ryokan experience”
12 Sep 2024
The staff were incredible, the onsens were a treat to have every evening, the games in the lobby and the cleanliness and size of the rooms. It was our first ryokan experience and we enjoyed every minute. We did the dinner and breakfast which was very adventurous for us westerners but we are so glad we tried it. The location was about 10 mins from Lake Ashi and we used the reliable busses to get there and back.
