Fabulous hotel, staff are so nice and friendly particularly João on the reception. Rooms, beds, breakfast fantastic. Great location near historic centre. Very interesting Tennis connection with hotel!

This hotel sets the gold standard on how to renovate and create a special environment. Every staff member was dedicated to ensuring that we were looked after. The facilities were superb and the breakfast was a lovely way to start the day.

If you want to visit Guimarães and stay at a family member’s house but don’t have family there, you can stay at this hotel (though keep in mind you’ll still need to pay). It’s a charming old house, not one of those ‘stylish but soulless’ hotels that could be anywhere in the world, missing both the charm of the local culture and the personal touch. The floor might creak a bit, and you might hear the church bell next door… but that’s just how it is – if you don’t like it, you’re the problem… accept it and move on… For a hotel like this, which was once a palace, to be clean, well-maintained, and, above all, a place with soul, the people who work there and the management make all the difference. So, feel free to go and take in the singularities of the place as opportunities to interact with the super friendly staff who will do everything to make you feel welcome.

We got the large suite and the room was very spacious, with plenty of modern conveniences like Nespresso maker and USB wall chargers. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great, with bacon & eggs cooked fresh. The staff were amazing. It’s just a short walk to the centre of the historic district.

Everything about Conquistador Palace is outstanding. Our room was very large and superbly furnished. The staff are wonderful! The reception staff were especially friendly and helpful, and bent over backwards to assist us. The owner greeted us on arrival and was also very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is excellent and included eggs cooked to order as well as a good variety of fresh fruit. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the main sights of Guimarães as well as the bus and train stations. Moreover, Braga is only a short bus ride away for a day trip. Guimarães is a lovely small city that has been well-preserved and the Conquistador Palace is the perfect base for exploring Guimarães and Braga.
