The Paroa Hotel is excellent. We stayed there after the TranzAlpine on our way to Franz Josef and again on our way back for the return train trip. Restaurant is brilliant, beautiful food, all homemade. Added bonus was having a laundry to use on our return trip.

Great sized 2 brm unit. comfortable bed. Kitchenette in unit. Good sized dining table. TV in each brm as well as lounge. Semi private deck. Restaurant on site serves breakfast and dinner. Great menus. Live band on the Saturday night.

loved the bed and the room was amazing. Nice and close to the beach and the girls looked after us when it come to taking care of our room. Dinner was ok.

Friendly owners. Room was a little small and my friend decided to sleep on the lounge, but that was not the hotel's fault - originally I was travelling by myself.
