Hotel Overview

Set in 3 acres of mature gardens, Tweedies Bar and Lodge is a period property with traditional charm. Located in the heart of the Lake District, it features a popular restaurant, bar and modern bedrooms.
Each of the individually designed rooms has an en suite bathroom, and features a flat-screen TV, tea and coffee facilities and luxury bathrobes. Some rooms have garden views.
Tweedies Bar and Lodge is a refurbished Georgian building with original features, located in the peaceful village of Grasmere. Free parking is available on site, and free Wi-Fi is also accessible throughout the hotel.
The Lodge Restaurant serves locally sourced dishes by candlelight. Tweedies Bar features a wood-burner, and offers a selection of British Ales. Guests are also welcome to explore the extensive hotel gardens.
Tweedies Bar and Lodge is situated just 4 miles from Ambleside town centre and 20 minutes from Windermere. The hotel offers a central and scenic location, with walking and hiking routes available just outside.

The brand new Tweed Suites have striking views of the mountainous landscapes, with king-size beds, super soft dressing gowns, and comfy seats. Please note dogs cannot be accomodated in all Tweed Suites, please contact if you require a pet friendly room.

Mews Suite - enter dates to see room photos

These spacious suites feature a mezzanine bedroom with king-size bed, ground floor lounge with flat-screen TV, a double sofa bed in lounge which can accommodate two children and access to a shared terrace with spa bath. Please note that the bedroom has low ceilings. These suites can accomodate dogs on request.

This individually designed room boasts a flat-screen digital TV, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee making facilities. The en suite bathroom offers complimentary toiletries. This room can accomodate one small dog on request.

Tweed Suite - Accessible - enter dates to see room photos

This room has been purpose-built for disabled access, with an en suite wet room suitable for wheelchair users. It is situated on the ground floor, within easy reach of the hotel lounge and restaurant. It is also quietly located at the rear of the hotel, overlooking the garden. This room can be made up as a twin on request. Please note that this room can accommodate a dog on request.

These are our most compact rooms featuring an en-suite shower room, and views of the surrounding gardens Please note, dogs cannot be accommodated in this room.

This suite has an extra large double bed, and seating area to enjoy the views of gardens and mountains from its double aspect position. The freestanding bath elevated in the lovely bay window gives this room a bright, modern, and airy feel, complemented by a separate shower room. This room cannot accommodate pets.

The staff were welcoming and allowed us to check in early. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Breakfasts were very good and location of the hotel excellent. We would definitely stay here again if back in the Lake District

Lovely staff, fantastic location in Grasmere. Room was perfect and had everything we needed. Very tastefully decorated throughout.

On arrival we had been left an envelope with room details. The hotel was warm and cosy with lovely Christmas decor. Our room was clean and plenty of tea/coffee, milk and cookies. A lovely box of chocolates were also complimentary. There was a slight mix up with eating arrangements and the bar staff at Tweedies were lacking customer service. The two ladies who worked in the lodge made up for that. They worked extremely hard, hospitality 10/10. We also learned they had no receptionist so that's why just an envelope left for us on arrival.
