The fine print
From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted. Effective 1st July 2022, The Penang State EXCO Office for Tourism and Creative Economy has introduced a Fi -Hotel Tax at RM2 per room per night. The tax is payable upon arrival or departure at the hotel and is not included in the room rateGuests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

The loft suite that we stayed in was in a self contained house across the street from the reception area. The whole house was furnished in traditional style and very atmospheric. The suite itself was huge, with a lovely seating area and two separate (double) beds in the downstairs area, plus a spacious loft area, big enough to have a large bed and a seating area. There were also two bathrooms, one on each level, and a balcony (although it was mostly too hot to sit outside and enjoy that outdoor area). Everything was clean and in good repair and a very special environment to relax in when coming in from our hot walks around town. The staff was welcoming and helpful and there is a cafe on site that caters for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We only had one breakfast there, which was good. The only reason we didn't eat there more often was that there were many excellent neighbouring cafes that we were keen to sample.

We stayed at the Loft Suite which was located across the road from the main building, in one of the traditional heritage Peranakan homes. Even though It was 1 of the 4 suites nestled in the premises, it was massive with a lounge, dining area, 2 bathrooms, and 3 king/queen beds, including 1 shared bed in the attic. The children loved the space and we all enjoyed the unique decoration or theme. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming (Linda, Nini and Ayu). They even prepared a welcome afternoon tea with the Nyonya delicacies.

Excellent hotel. Quiet rooms away from the road (quiet apart from a barking dog). Room H is impressive with old wooden floors, attractive art work, a spacious bathroom and good air con - although 2 units is overkill! Very pleasant staff plus a relaxing cafe for breakfast.

Muntri Mews rustic and bohemian charm is a magnet puller. I have an old soul and an avid antique collector myself so the entire decor and interior is very appealing. My kids love staying here too. This is our second time and it never disappoints. Location is centrally located and walking distance to Armenian Street if you like the casual stroll into town. Plenty of charming boutiques nearby too i.e. Lee Ye Yuan Hotel (reception area doubles as a shop), 5.4 North, etc

Very interesting and beautiful old colonial style building, with rooms around a courtyard setting The staff were very attentive and helpful, and breakfast was simple, but good. The location is very close to the backpacker section of the town

Location is very convenient and walking distance to many places. Food at the hotel is great. The hotel rooms are spacious and location of hotel in Muntri Street is quiet and nice. The tea time offered over the weekend was a lovely idea.

Very cozy boutique hotel - great alternative for skyscraper places. Personel is great, breakfasts are good. Place is surrounded by green plants, illuminated during nights. It is in the central George Town, but on the quiet street, so no noise and car traffic.
