The fine print
From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted. Effective 1 June 2014, the Penang State Government will be imposing a local government fee of MYR 3 per room per night, payable directly to the hotel upon check in.- The name on the credit card used for the booking should correspond to the guest staying at the property. For reservations made by a third party, you will need to complete an authorisation form and present a copy of the person's ID and credit card.- Please note that for bookings of 3 rooms or single booking with more than 3 nights and above, the hotel requires a 30% prepayment upon reservation.- Regret to inform that extra bed is not available from 17 April 25 to 26 April 2025.

Everything was excellent . We had a fabulous room with large balcony overlooking the sea. Breakfast excellent. Pool fabulous . Heritage lounge 2 hrs early evening, very good selection of food and drinks. Easy access to town. Fabulous service from all staff. I could not a thing . Stunning luxury hotel .

Such a classic and ‘old style’ hotel. Service impeccable , bedrooms were cool, had a balcony and everything one needed. Great bathroom! Cocktail bar was like stepping back in time to a golden era , and the cocktails were amazing. Such a cool place to stay .

The E&O is a favourite hotel due to its location, grandeur, service, room size and hospitality! The staff are warm and friendly, especially the brilliant International Breakfast chefs! The Executive Chef, Head Chef and other Chefs at the Roti station went out of their way to please. They really made the experience.

The food, happy hour and staff were fabulous. The beds and linen very good. The Heritage wing pool was great, comfortable lounges attendant handed out ice water. Lunch on poolside menu very good.

My wife has for years wanted to stay at this historic hotel. She used to work in PR for Tourism Malaysia in London and never got the opportunity through work. When she retired I planned a three week tour of Vietnamese, Malaysia concluding in Penang and the jewels in the crown were a short stay at the Blue Mansion and the E & O. We both had a lovely stay in this historic hotel, it did not disappoint. As we had such a short time we didn’t have chance to do all the things we wanted to do. The breakfast was the best of the 3 week tour. The staff are professional and very courteous nothing is too much trouble from check in through to check out. Room was very spacious well laid out with a lovely view and the bed comfortable. The only minor irritant was the coffee machine in the room, we sought help from housekeeping however, I don’t think he fully understood our issue. So we did what the British normally do in a coffee crisis and had a cup of tea. The infinity pool was tremendous to swim in. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.

Staff was very nice. Gym is a bit outdated. Breakfast place is nice but very average food quality. Cocktails in the bar are good. Haven’t tried the restaurant in the hotels. Easy to commute with grab, very cheap.

Lovely room with a view of the sea (perfect for sunsets), great breakfast. We stayed in the victory wing.
