I chose this place because I was travelling solo for the first time overseas & I'd read it has fabulous reviews & ideal for solo travellers which it absolutely was! The owners were so friendly & helpful making sure every detail was attended to. I was able to easily get information about public transport around the island, tours etc. It ticked every box! I had my own apartment for privacy, great housekeeping service, basic facilities for cooking & friendly welcoming staff to greet me every day. I would definitely stay here again. It's just out of the city in a great location to easily access rural & tour buses from Funchal sea front or closer. If you select the right tour companies, they will even collect you from the hotel. It was lovely to get fresh bread delivered every morning & meant I only had to do 2 supermarket shops during my week long stay. I loved having a bath in my apartment & enjoyed quiet evenings to myself. I was offered a lift to the shuttle bus back to the airport at 6.30am which I gladly took. Fabulous service!!

This was a great choice. We loved it here. Close to Funchal, welcoming and helpful hosts, equipped kitchen, added extras like warm bread each morning. Great that there was parking too.

I loved everything about Vila Marta. Joel and Bruno were extremely helpful and kind. On arrival you are welcomed with a taste of Madeira wine. The view from the room was brilliant. The room was clean and very spacious. It felt more like a home than a guest house/hotel. I would definitely recommend it to all my friends. I can't wait to go back!

I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting a relative at the nearby hospital. Joel and his family could not have been more hospitable and welcoming. The propery was spotless and the apartment had everthing i needed with a bonus of fresh bread rolls every morning. All in all a little oasis in what was a difficult trip to take.

Joao & his son Bruno were extremely helpful and welcoming throughout my stay- I was really touched by the kind hospitality I received, topped off by a traditional Madeiran cake which they gave me. Would stay here again happily

Bruno and Joel were outstanding hosts. I don't think I've ever experienced such commitment to service even in a 5 star resort hotel. I highly recommend this place and I will absolutely stay here again if I ever return to Madeira.
