This was one of my stops on my Japan road trip and was probably my favorite accomodation we stayed at. The ambience of the place was so homely and the host - Masaya, was such a friendly, earnest individual willing to help with anything. Awesome communal area and beautiful views of Fuji are only a few steps from the front door. Look forward to visiting again.

"Hakuna Matata". That phrase on the wall is in Swahili language, my native language. As the first Kenyan in Honobono, I felt at home! There is an international vibe in there!

Guesthouse Honobono is a peaceful and cozy retreat very near Kawaguchi Lake, with some great cafes and restaurants nearby (Yamaboushi was a great one!). The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, adding a personal touch to the stay. The room was spacious, with a heater that was especially appreciated during the cold morning. The common spaces are inviting and remind me of the best hostels in New Zealand. I travelled with my mother and we did not want to share a bedroom with others, and this was one of the only places in the area that had a private room option while still being affordable. Plenty of bedding was provided in the traditional Japanese futon style. The toilets and shower rooms are shared but well-maintained, and there are enough for all guests. While bikes are available for rent, we used our car to explore the area. Since they have parking space, it was perfect for us. The entire guesthouse is very clean, and everything was spotless during our stay. Highly recommended for a comfortable and relaxing experience!

Here you can feel authentic normal japanese house feel, and the location is near kawaguchiko lake. Once you’re outside of the property you can see mt.fuji in close. Refer the pictures for view outside of the property.

I stayed 2 nights here, the host and the family is very friendly. They have converted an old place into guesthouse and there is a nice hippie vibe to the place. The rooms are well ventilated and Japanese style with tatami mats. There is a common room where I spent most of my time talking to other travellers and Masaya (the host). The place is a little away from main spots but he picks and drops us at Kawaguchi Station through the day apart from 10am-3pm window when he is busy preparing rooms. This includes not only check in and check out, but also for your trips. Overall a nice experience and I would highly recommend it.

I really love this place ! It is very clean, room is spacious and there is plenty of toilets. Shuttle service is provided between station and guesthouse. Masaya did a really good job on keeping the guests comfortable and house in a good condition.
