The location is perfect, right across Eschweiler station. If you're stranded in the area this is a great option for an overnight stay, especially for that price! Drinks in the bar are cheap, and there are basic snacks like Bockwurst sausage in a bun. Supermarkets and basic takeaway restaurants can be reached on foot. Check in is REALLY from 16:00 on, so there's no point in arriving early. There will be no staff in the building to let you in. When the café closes staff also leaves. Eschweiler station has no cafés or shops, and the city centre is 2 km away. Really, don't arrive too early if you have luggage. The staff is absolutely lovely; it's a family that recently bought a dilapidated hotel and are working hard to renovate it. The atmosphere is familiar, and the bar is frequented by local darts teams. It was very crowded on the Friday, but there's also a terrace outside. The rooms are basic but will have all the necessities and are spacious enough. The pillow was very flat -- I had to prop it up with a towel -- but everything else was fine! There's a desk with enough light to work at. I think the most important tip for staying at this place is to just go with it and enjoy the hospitality. Be flexible. Bring ear plugs if you don't like noise. Don't expect a suite. You'll have your bed, space to put stuff, a place to sit at, a warm shower. And a lively bar if you feel like joining.
