The fine print
At the ticket office you must buy the entrance to the park with different costs which depend on age, nationality and the season in which you travel (Tayrona Park entrance fee is not included in the room rate), apart from the entrance fee you must pay a daily insurance to cover risks during your stay in the park.
From Zaino there is a 5 minute bus ride that takes you to a point where we will access the pedestrian trails walking approximately 50 minutes to the Playa Arrecifes Cabins.If you visit us by car, arrive at the parking lot and from there it is a 50 minute walk.

Gorgeous bungalow in an incredible location in Tayrona Definitely some kinks that need working out. The staff needed help, there weren’t nearly enough people to service all the guests. Dinner took 2 hours. There need to be more people to help out, it’s not fair to the staff on site. The water situation is inexcusable. It’s 30 degrees and people need a lot of water, but the hotel makes you buy little bottles of water. How can you be an ecolodge when you make people buy single use plastics? They do actually provide water, however, despite telling us at reception they won’t. Once we asked at the restaurant, we were told ‘Yes we have water but it’s very hot’. It was the same room temperature water provided at most Colombian hostels and hotels - totally fine! You need to please sort the water situation out, it seems like you’re just trying to scam your customers. Also, not a huge deal, but the wifi doesn’t work in most of the resort. Only near the restaurant.

We were surprised how nice the cabaña was. There was hot water in the shower and sink, soap, shampoo and even body lotion. The mosquito net however did have a few holes and was difficult to adjust from inside and the safe didn't work. Wifi worked ok around the reception and restaurant once you eventually found a log in that worked 😆 They kindly made us a special vegan breakfast of tortillas and stir fried vegetables (with the usual fruit, juice and coffee) and didn't charge extra.

It's quite affordable for accommodation inside the park. However, I don't recommend visiting the park itself. It's a tourist trap. There are no animals to spot (even around the sunrise and during the night) I see more wild animals in my hometown than there. It was very clean. No insect even though you're in the jungle!

We stayed in the two bedroom bungalow, with our boys aged 8 and 10. The accommodation was fairly basic and some things looked like they could do with an update/upgrade. It was quite pricey for the standard of accommodation compared to other places we stayed in Colombia. The food was adequate but not the best ! It was fine for one night, and considering the location in the park where it must be more difficult to get things in and out maybe more understandable that it was fairly rustic. We got the shuttle from El Zanio to Canaveral and then it took about 2 hours to walk to Tequendama, some steep sections but do-able with the kids. Good not to have to walk all the way back out again in one day. It was nice to wake up in the morning and hear the howler monkeys. We also had the most amazing experience seeing a sloth close up on our way out of the park.

Great natural environment. Not over crowded at all. Very silent. Relatively close to beaches, in the middle of the track from the entrance of the park to Cabo San Juan. Dinner was good and well served.

The tent was beautiful. Large, roomy, impeccably clean - it was such a nice place to come back to every night. The food provided by the restaurant was good as was the wine. It was well located - one hour walk from the El Zaino entrance and from Cabo San Juan.
