Hostel Overview

In Edinburgh’s Old Town, Castle Rock Hostel - Adults Only is conveniently located 11 minutes’ walk from Waverley Train Station, and 3 minutes from Grassmarket and Edinburgh Castle. In a 19th-century building decorated with art, this adult-only property has colourful dormitories and free WiFi access.
The hostel offers accommodation exclusively for guests aged 18 years and older. Dormitories feature bunk beds with bedside lockers and have use of shared bathroom facilities with showers. There is a cosy lounge with a piano and large sofas by the fireplace, a movie room with big screen and an internet lounge with WiFi.
Breakfast is unfortunately not available at the moment, but we have a large self catering kitchen for guest use. Laundry and luggage storage services are also offered.
This hostel is around 5 minutes’ walk from Princes Street Gardens, The Scottish National Gallery and the National Museum of Scotland. It is also a pick-up point for free walking tours around the city.
Continental breakfast is available each morning from 7:30 until 10:30 for £4.
At check in, we will require a refundable key deposit of either £10 cash or a form a government ID.

It was right next to the Edinburgh Castle. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I loved the books and the different lounges. All the guests were also really considerate and respectful. I enjoyed staying here and felt super safe.

The atmosphere is incredible!!! It’s a real Hostel. A lot of friendly people sharing the commom areas. Perfect for who travels alone. Every day they made acrivities for integration.

Great location and easy to access popular tourist spots. Staff very friendly and helpful, as well great animators for the daily events (especially the pub crawl!!!). All in all, great value considering what the hostel offers

Talking to new faces in Edinburgh and Leith. I could have easily taken the bus to Leith but I love the walk to Leith. Nice pubs and restaurants in Leith. Met lots of people.

It is an old building that is extremely well maintained and has a rustic charm to it. The team at the hostel has made extreme efforts to keep the place as chic as they can.

Value for money is incredibly high — they went above and beyond in making it feel homey and a space to meet people & make friends. My favourite in the facility are the lounges that are inviting and cosy. Team working there are also some of the friendliest and warmest I’ve ever met traveling.
