This is the best place we have stayed in the North East. The location has the best vista in Europe from South Street across to the UNESCO world heritage site Durham Cathedral. The Boutique style exudes quality throughout. The pictures don’t do it justice. Stayed in the Belmont room, huge room, well dressed and comfortable. Yes the cathedral chimes. Bed was spacious & comfortable. Breakfast offered amazing choice including vegetarian. Early evening prior to walking 5 mins into the near by city centre for dinner we enjoyed a cocktail in the bar, noting that in better weather guests can enjoy the night air in a pretty atrium. On street Parking is by metre / app 6 pounds for 23 hours. There are many walks on the doorstep to gain access to the ancient monuments & the botanical gardens within nearby University.

The whole experience was exceptional. The breakfast was utterly delicious. They very kindly let my daughter join us for breakfast which was very kind. The best part of the stay has to be George. What an amazing host and gentleman. He made our stay and because of him and the wonderful hotel we will be returning, if only just to see George again!
