Expectations were low for this hotel, as we only stayed for 1 night following a show at Darlington Hippodrome and had a train to catch the next morning. We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the room, the comfort of the beds and the warm hosts. We would stay again!

Quirky layout to this hotel. Has character but clean, well appointed room. Kitchen facilities. Good location near train station. Surprisingly quiet for location.

Paul was very welcoming and allowed for early check-in. The location allows for a perfect spot between the nature of South Park and city-center. Kitchen was stocked with tea, coffee, and fresh milk in the fridge. As I stayed in the off-season it was very quiet, but very pleasant. The small scale local hospitably was very much appreciated and would certainly stay again. Compliments to the chip shop in the front, with great fish and chips and haloumi wrap.

I was on top floor alone therefore the fact that toilet and shower were shared didn't matter. Location was perfect for my needs

Exceptionally helpful and friendly owners. The room was clean and comfortable and very modern. Bathrooms are very clean and spacious. Overall, this hotel is excellent value for money. Will be staying again.

Stayed in room 17 , there are stairs but was not a problem and is in an ideal spot for train and town . We used it as a base for a trip to York by train and back for another night , more economical than York stop over.

Hotel was clean, with a clean, tidy kitchen near the room. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk all available. Nice room, with wide opening window (great in this heat!) and good lighting. Very handy location for railway station and town centre.
