“Great stay!”
04 Jan 2025
It was very nice! We had a very nice room, clean and comfortable. They had an overnight heating, which was nice. The breakfast is also a big plus, and the fact they offer coca tea/muňa tea is very convenient. We really felt at home.

“Perfectly located hotel with nice rooms and friendly staff”

“Excellent place to stay. Shame about my internet experience.”
08 Nov 2024
This was my second 2-night stay at the Amaru Inca. I emailed the hotel before my visit, pointing out that the first room I had been offered on my previous visit had been unsuitable, and this time I was given a perfectly satisfactory ground floor room. (It even had a wardrobe to hang some clothes!) So I would have awarded 9/10 this time (with minus one for an unexciting buffet breakfast). It's a great hotel! But then the internet packed up at lunchtime on the second day. I was flying home the following day and so I needed internet access to get some stuff sorted out. I asked at Reception and was given the unsatisfactory and unhelpful response "Try again in 30 minutes." Hence I twice had to go out to a nearby cafe and purchase food and drink that I didn't really want so that I could use their WiFi. The internet was back on in the Amaru Inca on my return from my second such visit at 8 pm, so the total internet outage must have been 6-8 hours.

“Nice hotel - but flawed practices”
07 Nov 2024
I had trekked the 4-day version of the Inca Trail and then turned up at this hotel, tired and feeling a little sick, at about 8 pm. I had booked it for 2 nights many weeks before. I was given a room that contained a tiny, narrow internal staircase up to a small bathroom on an upper level. I am 1.85 m tall (6' 1") and hit my head. I went back to Reception and was offered an alternative room on the ground floor. This was much better (although, like the first room, it still had nowhere to hang any clothes). But I was told that I could only have it for one night!!! The following morning, after a poor night's sleep, I went back to Reception and was told that, no, I could have the room for two nights, as booked. I tell this story so that the hotel - which was otherwise excellent!!! - can improve its practices. Surely, if one books a hotel room weeks or months in advance then one should get a decent room and not be offered the rubbish that is left at the end of the day?

The location was great, close to Plaza de Armas, lots of vendors and walking distance to San Pedro Market and Saqsaywaman. Lots of good restaurants close by and if you walk to streets, you can find great boutiques and cafes. Watch out for your phone and bags, they are out there so don't get distracted and keep everything in front of you and not in your pockets. Breakfast was included and we had a good start to each day. So much papaya! The duvets and pillows were comfortable and had a good nights sleep.
