The fine print
According to local tax laws, Uruguayan citizens must pay an additional 10% fee from November 15th to Easter Sunday. This fee is not automatically calculated in the total cost of the booking. Please note that if the guest does not honor their reservation, the total amount for one night's stay will be charged, plus an additional 22% VAT, in accordance with local tax regulations.
Note that adults travelling with children will have to book the whole dormitory room.Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

Very nice place. the room was good and clean, comfortable bed, good hot shower, good Wifi. The breakfast was ok, mainly sweet stuff, no proteins like eggs. There is separate kitchen for guests with everything, incl fridge. Communication with staff was smooth. Location is great. Recommended.

I had a great stay at Hostel & Suites del Rio! Came for two nights and stayed for four it was so good The dorm rooms were clean and well-maintained, with large lockers to keep belongings secure. It was a nice touch that towels were provided. The hostel has a spacious kitchen, making it easy to prepare meals, and even features an asado grill for a true local experience. The location is fantastic—right next to the old colonial town and just a short walk to the sea wall. The outdoor area is a great place to relax, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this hostel for a comfortable and convenient stay in Colonia!

Colonia is not big, so most of the accommodation are near to the port including this. Supermarkets, restaurants, historical area are nearby. Kitchen is fully equipped and separated from the hostel. Room and bed is clean and comfortable but a bit small for 6 beds room when it is fully occupied. Many tables and chairs on the ground floor. Shares 3 toilets and 3 showers. Good stay.

Hostel was in quite a good location. Beds were comfortable and there was aircon. Bathrooms were nice and clean.
