Hotel Overview

Set in a historic building that counts as one of Coimbra’s architectural landmarks, Hotel Astória overlooks the Mondego River in the historic Baixa district. It offers rooms with classic décor.
Each of Astória’s bright rooms features custom-made curtains and hardwood furnishings. Rooms offer charming views over the city or Mondego River. Bathrooms are decorated with Portuguese glazed tiles and marble.

The location is perfect and is close to local attractions, administrative institutions (if you need to visit one) and, of course, best cafes and restaurants in the town. Plus the breakfast was very nice.

We loved staying at the charming art deco hotel. It was close to the station and right in the heart of the old town. The furnishings were lovely. It felt like we were enjoying a slice of history. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were most friendly. This was a great place to stay and so close to the sights of Coimbra.

I love this hotel because of it is not anonymously renovated. OK there are some things that could a little bit more fresh like the carpet in the corridor, but the atmosphere is so unique. You enter a bygone era and that is rather unique.

the location was in the middle of the city centre. Everything was reachable by foot. I loved the breakfast, there was a bit of everything. The staff was always very friendly. We needed someone to print the train tickets that could be done by the staff behind the front desk.

A charming Art Nouveaux hotel located right in the centre of town with classic features like a lobby lounge with honesty bar and great breakfast in the dining room. Great location for walking to all the interesting places in Coimbra and near lots of restaurants.

old style hotel reminded us of past experiences of hotels in Mozambique under Portuguese influence . Close to station and to old town with many eating and shopping options nearby. Able to walk up to University. Lovely old fixtures. Oldest lift in Coimbra . We had a beautiful river view balcony which was great at night when road works ceased

It was a delight to stay in this authentic 1920s art deco building, with many original fixtures and furnishings in both the public and private rooms. Little has been altered and it has a wonderful atmosphere. I particularly liked the wood-panelled telephone booth, the cage lift with an upholstered seat and the quaint bathrooms. The breakfast room was superb, and the buffet breakfast adequate. I had never before seen an honesty bar for cocktails in the lounge of a hotel.
