The staff were friendly and willing to help. The Lodge was always clean and organized. Security was taken seriously. The atmosphere was welcoming to everyone.

I have stayed in dozens of hostels globally and rate Long Street Backpackers as my favourite yet. I stayed for 10 nights. Perfect vibe, lots of guests chilling in the courtyard area by the onsite bar during the day and evenings, very easy to meet other travellers. Many evenings spent chilling in the courtyard having a few beers, there is always a group of people hanging out there! I would not suggest staying in this hostel if you are looking for peaceful accommodation and tranquillity, it is very lively! Lots of other communal areas like tv room, kitchen, and the on site bar with balcony and free pool table. There are daily group activities for hostel guests that you can join (hikes, day trips, sports, BBQs, beer pong, karaoke, quiz, bingo, games, etc) and there is a very active hostel Whatsapp chat containing hundreds of members, both the guests and staff, which is great for arranging group activities together, sharing photos, information, ideas etc.

What shall I say? Sometimes its not the materialistic what makes a stay beautiful - no the people are. I had a wonderful time on longstreet. This special vibing street with its wonderful people. But beware Longstreet makes addictive. Once there you never want to leave and out of a sudden you find your mind drifting away in thoughts about moving to SA.
