The hotel is better than photographed. Super comfortable beds! The bathroom was large plenty of room to put your things / hair tools etc. great location short walk from food options.

I didn't like the additional $20 charge for parking. I was told it was a penalty for reserving a room using Booking.com instead of going direct through the hotel. I've been a long term customer at the Avenue hotel and had never been charged for parking previously. When I checked in, I was informed the room wasn't ready and that reception would phone me when it was. I was in Canberra CBD for the rest of the afternoon and didn't receive a call. On my return to the desk I was given the key with no acknowledgement of failing to call me. In fact reception staff were perfunctory in their duties. I was not emailed a receipt on checkout as I have in the past. The Avenue used to be a distinctive and welcoming hotel with attention to detail with its service to customers. I get the feeling the culture has changed where it's now just one of the pack.

The location was ideal for what we were needing to do. The bed was very comfortable and great after a long drive. The coffee machine was great for the morning cuppa.
