This was a last minute booking as a medical appointment went late and necessitated staying overnight in Cairns. There was room availability and at a good rate and a top position on the Esplanade.

The Cairns Plaza Hotel is the type of accommodation everyone wants. The most attentive and helpful happy staff. Great sea view watching all the ships, boats. It has all the amenities you need including 2 balconys with furniture. For families, there is a pool and a huge playground across the road as well as a cafe for all you want. The one bed apartment was spacious, and only a couple of blocks walk into the heart of Cairns city, and all it has to offer. Restaraunts, markets, shopping, Art Gallery, live music venues etc.

Friendly hotel with excellent staff. Very good room size and effective ac (which was really needed!). Bed very comfortable but lacking an duvet. Shower was poor (weak flow and you really need a handset to get to those important areas), lighting in bathroom terrible (impossible to shave). Like most hotels in Oz, there was no double glazing. Given the close airport, busy road and noisy gardening I would think such sound deadening would be essential.

Everything was good and clean. The staff is friendly, pool are was really nice. The AC being on when you arrive feels very good.
