The Luxury room was super nice. Lots of character and charm, combining old and new. The bathroom was amazing. We loved the bath robes, slippers, coffee machine, and snack bar. The food in the pub downstairs is really lovely, and the included breakfast was generous. Famous historic sites a stones throw away, and lovely high street. Overall a great stay.

We stayed the first night in the Luxury room and preferred that. This review is for the regular room. The regular room appears to be in a newer extention on the building, and was quiet - we did not hear anything from the pub downstairs. Room was nicely decorated. The pub downstairs is really nice, and the food is great. A generous breakfast is included. There are historic sites nearby, and the high street is charming.

It is a spacious pub/hotel with friendly and efficient management. Elements of its Elizabethan architecture are evident. My room ( I was upgraded) was beautiful - with everything I needed- dressing gown , coffee machine, biscuits …very comfortable bed etc Dinner downstairs delicious. Cannot recommend this place highly enough

Lovely pub, with a crowded lively bar. Our bedroom was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. The furniture and fittings were really high quality, and the bed and linen extremely comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly.

We stayed overnight after meeting family in the Crown for lunch. The service at lunch was very poor, the waitress was new and had obviously had no training, didn’t know if there was a wine list, didn’t offer or even tell us that there was a child’s menu, even though we had a child with us. The food was okay , although we were initially told that neither of the vegetarian options were available, but then they found one. We were then presented with dessert menus and completely ignored for 15 minutes. We had to attract someone’s attention to order a dessert. Breakfast was good although again we were told that there were no mushrooms even though mushrooms featured in two of the dishes. The room itself was lovely, very comfy bed, nicely decorated and furnished, good facilities although there were a few maintenance issues. The bathroom window wouldn’t close, the bathroom mirror hung at a precarious angle and the extractor fan was noisy and seemed to have a mind of its own.
