We loved staying in this part of Berat which is UNESCO listed. The staff were friendly, helpful and our room was cosy, clean and warm. The breakfast was plentiful with a range of delicious options. We also ate dinner in the hotel which also had a wide range of tasty choices.

The traffic layout in the upper town is confusing, so choosing Ansel simplifies things by being based right next to the river. There aren't allocated spaces as such, so they recommend arriving before the tour buses descend. It's very near the footbridge to Gorica, so very central. The hotel also has a fine restaurant which doubles up as the breakfast rooms in the morning. The rooms are smallish, but characterful and comfortable. The staff were excellent and speak a variety of languages fluently.

The location is fabulous. We stayed in one of the "museum" rooms that is above and separate from the restaurant and main hotel with exceptional views, especially at night. Parking was on the street below (in one of only 2 spaces reserved by the hotel). Please bear in mind that it is a very steep climb (up steps then a narrow cobbled path) to get to these rooms, so getting cases/bags up/down, or even just walking, can be quite a challenge - but worth it overall!
