The onsen area is small but really cozy. The yukata provided by the hotel is really beautiful and the Japanese experience is amazing.

While an older property, I liked the ambiance of the tatami room. The smell of the tatami was very soothing. I used both the shared onsen, and also rented one is the private onsen rooms. Nogami Honkan is also a few minutes walk from Takegawara Onsen, where one can do the hot sand bath. Nogami Honkan is also tattoo friendly! I also appreciate their open support of the LGBTIA+ community. They also let me wait in the manga lounge for a few hours after check out time, since my train wasn’t until later in the afternoon. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Extremely nice at reception. Went out of their way to prepare and explain a map for me for finding the fireworks display. The onsen are very clean and well kept. You can enjoy 2 different Onsen depending on the time. (Men/women bath will be exchanged day/noon). It was a calm and quite environment.

The location is great, close to the ocean and a couple of department stores. A lot of restaurants near by. The traditional Japanese breakfast was good. Nice to have coffee and hot water station on each floor.

The location is excellent and the rooms are very nice. You can book a private onsen for only 500 Yen. It was wonderful. The breakfast is very lovingly prepared and very good. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff were very kind and helpful. They helped explain to us how to take the bus to visit the Beppu Hells. When we wanted to use their private onsen, they showed us the choices we could rent for 50 mins and explained the features of each bath. When we were served breakfast, it was shared with us what the food items were and how we should best enjoy them. The experience was like staying at your grandparents' place and being well-taken care of.

Very close to Takegawara Onsen- helpful if you are trying the sand onsen as you need to wait for that. Breakfast was fantastic

The 1st night, we found the room abit cold. The elderly gentleman with glasses come back specially to help us check the room & realised we didn't switch on the heater mode. We are touched by their kind dedication to offer good hospitality despite the cold weather. The intern Balvit from Bangladesh was kind to offer us thick blankets to help us with the cold before the kind gentleman came by. My family enjoyed the private onsen very much & overall it's been a good stay. Location is awesome as it was within minutes walk to major transport link like Beppu JR station and bus stop to Oita airport & 2 malls especially Toiwa which offer great affordable dining options & buying souvenirs. :)
