Overall, the hotel is good, but there are some really BIG cons. Let’s start with the pros first. Pros: 1. Spacious and beautifully designed room, comfortable bed and pillows. 2. Great breakfast - wide variety of Chinese and European options. 3. Free laundromat. Cons: 1. Terrible location. I don’t get why it’s rated so high. The only “close” metro station is 20mins away. There aren’t any cafes, supermarkets, restaurants nearby, except Starbucks and the disgusting Pizza Hut which can be entered from the lobby. 2. It’s hot like hell! I couldn’t sleep well for the 5 nights I spent in this hotel, because the temperature in my room was constantly 28 degrees! There is AC controller on the wall, but the temperature cannot be adjusted. The front desk “explained” that the AC is central, but they cannot turn it on cooling mode because of the weather in Beijing in April. They offered me a fan, which didn’t help much… 3. Strong cigarettes smoke in the hallway which entered my room. 4. Totally inadequate and useless front desk staff. The biggest problem is not that they don’t know even basic English, but the total lack of hospitality. They just don’t give a **** about anything. I asked them to help me to order food on the day when the strong winds hit in Beijing, and their response was just “No”.

Comfortable bed and great breakfast. Staff are very friendly. I love the self laundry facility. However the aircon were not working the whole 5 nights we stayed. We were only advised that when we called the reception. Luckily it wasn’t very hot. We had to open the windows to get cool air when the room was too warm. Some part of the floor on the corridor was bubbled and wall was peeled. It makes the place look cheap. The bathroom is a little small. There’s hardly any space on the vanity for toiletries.

We did not impose high expectations but we were very impressed overall. The restaurants adjacent to the hotel and the accessibility were very good.
